Boeing has signed a new contract with Israel worth $289 million to deliver up to 5,000 new air-launched smart bombs. According to earlier reports from media citing sources, this new contract is unrelated to the current U.S.-Israel airstrikes against Iran, with the first deliveries expected to begin within 36 months. The company’s small-diameter bombs are guided weapons that Israeli aircraft can target from 40 miles (64 kilometers) away. Last year, Boeing secured an $8.6 billion contract with the Pentagon to produce and deliver F-15 fighters to Israel, as part of a military sale agreement between the two governments. The United States has long been Israel’s largest weapons supplier. (Sina Finance)
