Google Translate Introduces Gemini AI Features, Providing Synonym Suggestions and Contextual Information

IT Home, February 27 — Today, Google Translate announced a new AI feature upgrade that helps users access more contextual information and gain a deeper understanding of translations.

According to official information, thanks to Gemini’s powerful multilingual capabilities, Google Translate now offers practical synonym replacements, especially useful when translating idioms and colloquial phrases. For example, when you want to translate expressions like “It’s raining cats and dogs,” the system clearly indicates the usage scenarios and reasons for different expressions, helping users choose the most appropriate wording for the current conversation.

To explore the subtle differences behind each expression, simply tap “Understand” to view a practical overview, or click “Ask” to further inquire about your specific scenario — such as how a phrase is expressed in certain countries or dialects.

Starting today, users in the United States and India can experience this new feature in the translation app (Android & iOS), with the web version also coming soon.
