Boao Asia Forum 2026 Annual Conference Concludes
On the afternoon of March 27, the 2026 annual conference of the Boao Forum for Asia, a four-day event, concluded in Boao, Hainan. Zhang Jun, Secretary-General of the Boao Forum for Asia, said that the conference held more than 50 events in total, achieved important outcomes, and met the expected goals. As one of the key results of this annual conference, the Forum released the “Boao Forum for Asia Initiative on Promoting Regional Cooperation in Asia.” The initiative calls for continuing to pursue open development and accelerating the process of regional economic integration; strengthening digital-intelligence empowerment, uncovering new engines of growth, and enhancing economic resilience; vigorously promoting a green transition, investing in the future, and investing in people to achieve high-quality and sustainable development; continuing to improve the cooperation framework to provide stronger institutional support for regional development; and further deepening connectivity, safeguarding the safe and smooth operation of supply chains, and using its own certainty to respond to external uncertainties. Zhang Jun said that representatives attending the conference engaged in in-depth dialogue and exchanges based on major challenges and urgent issues facing Asia and the world today. The annual conference is rooted in Asia and committed to enhancing the level of regional integration, building strong support for promoting shared development of Asia and the world. Participants said that multilateralism and economic globalization are still the right approach for countries to jointly address global challenges. We must firmly advance the process of free trade, work toward building an open world economy, and improve global economic governance. This year marks the 25th anniversary of the founding of the Boao Forum for Asia. “The Forum will take the 25th anniversary as a new starting point, stay true to its founding mission, keep pace with the times, uphold openness and inclusiveness, highlight Asian characteristics, broaden global perspectives, strengthen cooperation for mutual benefit, and make greater contributions to the shared development of Asia and the world,” Zhang Jun said.
