Multiple U.S. military aircraft have repeatedly encountered incidents in Iran and surrounding areas, and search and rescue operations are ongoing.
Coin World, April 4 News: According to disclosures from multiple sources, a U.S. Air Force F-15E Strike Eagle fighter jet was shot down over Iran. Two crew members successfully ejected and escaped. At present, one of them has been found by U.S. special forces within Iran and rescued; the other is still being searched for. Iran is also carrying out a search and calls on local civilians to assist.
Meanwhile, Iran says that a U.S. A-10 Thunderbolt II attack aircraft was shot down by an air defense system near the Strait of Hormuz. U.S. officials confirmed that the aircraft crashed, but stated that the pilot was rescued.
Also, according to Iranian reports, an F-16 Fighting Falcon fighter jet had sent an emergency signal and made an urgent landing in Saudi Arabia, though the exact reason is still unclear.
During the search and rescue operation, a UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter involved in the mission is believed to have been attacked and damaged. Witnesses say that as the aircraft flew from Iran into the southern part of Iraq, black smoke appeared from the aircraft’s body. Iranian media previously said that its air defense system had hit the helicopter.
Regarding the related incidents, Trump said that the crash of U.S. military aircraft would not affect the current negotiations with Iran, and added, “This is war.” At present, the situation in the Middle East remains tense, and related military developments are still unfolding.
