I just saw a crazy case: Konstantin Ignatov has finally been released from prison. This guy is a key figure in the OneCoin scam, a $4 billion fraud he ran with his sister. U.S. Judge Edgardo Ramos sentenced him to 34 months on March 5, but since he had already served time before, he was released immediately and will be on probation for two years.

Interestingly, Konstantin Ignatov was initially just his sister’s assistant, but after she ran off in 2017, he became the actual leader of the scam. During the trial, he admitted to lying in his previous testimony about throwing a laptop in Las Vegas. He also testified against another guy, Mark Scott, who was sentenced to 10 years for laundering $400 million.

Besides Konstantin Ignatov, several other top figures in OneCoin have also been jailed. Co-founder Greenwood received a 20-year sentence; he made $300 million from OneCoin alone, all spent on luxury goods. Legal director Dilkinska also pleaded guilty and faces up to 10 years. As for his sister, she disappeared in 2017 and is still on the FBI’s Ten Most Wanted list. There are rumors she was killed by a drug dealer in 2018, but nothing has been confirmed. This case is truly insane.
