BYD's 5,000th fast-charging station and the country's first batch of fast-charging highway stations are put into operation, accelerating the promotion of the "Fast Charging China" strategy.
On March 31, BYD’s 5,000th fast-charging station officially began operations at the Jiejiakou Service Area on the Qinglan Expressway in Lanzhou, Gansu. This marks a phased milestone in BYD’s “Fast Charging China” strategy.
The Jiejiakou Service Area is located at the junction of the Qinglan Expressway and the Lianhuo Expressway within Gansu Province. As an important transportation hub connecting China’s central and western regions, the station’s launch will further improve the high-speed charging network layout across the central and western regions, providing convenient support for cross-regional travel users. At the same time, fast-charging stations in expressway service areas across multiple provinces and cities nationwide—including Nanjing, Jiangsu; Tangshan, Hebei; Haikou, Hainan—also began operations in the first batch, fully weaving a nationwide fast-charging network and deepening the electrification rollout.
Since the “Fast Charging China” strategy was announced on March 5, BYD has efficiently advanced the construction of fast-charging stations, achieving broad coverage of the charging network from core cities to transportation trunk lines. As of now, BYD fast-charging stations have covered 297 cities nationwide, which will effectively address travel pain points for new-energy vehicle owners during holidays—such as “difficulty finding a charger, long lines, and slow charging”—and meaningfully improve the convenience and comfort of long-distance travel.
Previously, BYD had announced that by the end of 2026 it would build 20,000 fast-charging stations nationwide, making charging more free and more convenient for users. What’s worth noting is that fast-charging vehicle owners equipped with BYD’s second-generation Blade Battery can enjoy one year of free fast-charging benefits at fast-charging stations nationwide. Coupled with BYD’s fast-charging technology—“charge in 5 minutes, fully charge in 9 minutes, and at -30°C it only takes 3 more minutes”—it completely eliminates owners’ concerns about charging.
The commissioning of the 5,000th fast-charging station, together with the country’s first batch of fast-charging expressway stations, reflects BYD’s delivery of its commitments under the “Fast Charging China” strategy, and also demonstrates its efforts in deepening new-energy travel services and fulfilling social responsibility. Going forward, as the fast-charging network continues to improve, BYD will further lower the threshold for new-energy travel, helping accelerate the adoption of new-energy vehicles, and inject strong momentum into China’s transportation energy transition and green travel development.
