Trump proposes a $1.5 trillion defense budget, setting a new record in U.S. modern history.
BlockBeats message: On April 4, U.S. President Donald Trump released an overview of the FY 2027 budget proposal, planning to apply for up to $1.5 trillion in defense spending, setting the highest record in modern U.S. history.
Under the plan, about $1.1 trillion would be allocated to the U.S. Department of Defense, with an additional roughly $350 billion earmarked for projects such as the procurement of key munitions and the expansion of the defense industrial base. At the same time, the budget also covers priority military plans, including warship construction and the “Golden Dome” missile defense system.
The White House said the budget will cut about $73 billion in non-defense spending, covering areas such as education and environmental protection, while maintaining the overall spending cap. Meanwhile, the proposal also includes funding to set up new agencies, such as the National Fraud Investigation Bureau led by Vice President JD Vance.
At present, this budget is only a summary version, and complete details are still to be released. Congress, controlled by the Republican Party, must complete deliberations and decide the final legislative content before the start of the new fiscal year on October 1.
