Xscape Photonics, a company developing cutting-edge equipment for AI data centers, recently secured an additional $37 million (approximately 5.32 billion KRW) in funding. This brings the total investment in Series A funding to $81 million (about 11.66 billion KRW).

In this round, Xscape’s valuation doubled thanks to its innovative device, FalconX, which significantly improves cost efficiency and data transfer speeds. The product uses laser-based optical transmission technology to enable ultra-high-speed, high-capacity connections within data centers, linking thousands of GPUs and other AI processing devices.

According to Vivek Raghunathan, co-founder and CEO of Xscape, existing transmission equipment faces bottlenecks due to bandwidth limitations, hindering AI performance. FalconX aims to solve this problem. Traditional transmission relies on electrical signals, which are slow and limited, but Xscape’s technology leverages optical lasers to maximize transfer speeds. Currently, FalconX can transmit up to eight different wavelengths simultaneously through a single optical module, allowing data centers to operate as efficiently as a large GPU cluster.

Competitors include Intel, IBM, Huawei, and Mavenir. Xscape is expanding its foothold in the global market through its differentiated technological capabilities. The company plans to continue developing technologies that can handle more wavelengths to push the boundaries of the field.
