Just came across some interesting data on XRP wallet distribution that got me thinking about how many XRP wallets actually exist and what the typical holder looks like. Someone posted a breakdown showing that the average XRP per wallet sits around 12,350, but here's the thing - that number's pretty misleading because of whale concentration.
Looking at the numbers, there are over 1.3 million wallets holding just 20 XRP or less, and more than 2.3 million holding between 20 and 500 XRP. Meanwhile, only 5 wallets hold over 1 billion XRP each, with 22 wallets in the 500M-1B range and 58 in the 100M-500M range. The distribution is heavily skewed by these massive holdings.
At current prices around $1.44, that average of 12,350 XRP translates to roughly $17,770 per wallet - way above what most retail holders actually have. The data really shows how top-heavy the XRP ecosystem is. Most people in the community seem skeptical about whether that average accurately represents typical holders, and honestly, looking at the raw numbers, I get it. The whale activity here is pretty significant and definitely distorts the picture of what an average XRP holder actually owns.
