Trump’s auto tariff measures have led to a general decline in the stock market and the crypto market, further exacerbating people’s pessimism about the future economy! The S&P 500 Index is trying to reclaim the 200-day moving average, which is around $5700, but has failed to do so. This failure to break through is indeed a very bad sign, and we will pay attention to whether the support level can remain stable around the current levels.
Trump announced a 25% tariff on imported cars and auto parts, which will disrupt the U.S. auto supply chain, as many American car manufacturers rely on foreign parts, leading to increased production costs. This has caused the stock prices of American automakers to plummet!
Car tariffs also affect the cryptocurrency market! ---- led to Bitcoin failing to stabilize at the key support level of 88,000 USD, thereby exacerbating the recent downward trend. If this trend continues, Bitcoin could drop to the previous local low of around 76,000 USD, and it may even break below this level, setting a new low. In several of my recently published articles, I have maintained a consistent view on the price trend of Bitcoin: the 200-day moving average (EMA–200) support level is a key indicator, but it currently appears that this support has failed. At the same time, I also warn that as long as the Bitcoin price fails to reclaim $90,000, its downward trend will continue!
The American public generally believes that tariff policies may lead to an increase in unemployment rates or put pressure on wages. At the same time, they are also concerned that tariffs will further drive up inflation. Currently, the market’s five-year inflation expectations are rising, and survey-based expectations have also significantly increased.
Currently, the market holds a relatively pessimistic attitude towards Trump’s tariff policy. However, we are also curious about the reciprocal tariff policy to be announced on April 2, wondering whether it will eliminate market uncertainty, or instead lead to a shift in risk assets (such as U.S. stocks and cryptocurrencies), alleviating the current downward trend. Countries affected by tariffs may take retaliatory trade actions to maximize their impact on the United States while minimizing negative effects on themselves. Additionally, European countries facing similar tariff threats are also likely to take countermeasures. Such a situation will undoubtedly make global trade relations more complex!
