Golden Ten Data on May 27, local time on May 26, the new Canadian House of Representatives opened, and the ruling Liberal Party Federal Representative Francis Skarpaleja was elected Speaker of the House of Representatives by secret ballot. Born in 1957, Skarpaleja was first elected to the House of Representatives in 2004 and has been re-elected for seven consecutive terms. From 2011 to 2021, he served as chairman of the Liberal Caucus. In accordance with Canadian practice, the Speaker will not belong to any party and will be tasked with overseeing the day-to-day functioning of Parliament and fully enforcing the rules of protocol and conduct of Parliament. After the Liberal MP becomes Speaker of the House of Representatives, the Liberal Party of Canada’s seat in the House of Representatives will drop to 168 seats.
