The GANA Payment project on the BNB Chain has been severely attacked, resulting in damages of over 3.1 million USD. According to researcher ZachXBT, the attacker laundered most of the stolen money through Tornado Cash on both the BNB Chain and Ethereum, while about 1 million USD remains on Ethereum. The Hacker changed the contract ownership of GANA, took control of the staking mechanism, manipulated the rewards, and withdrew a large amount of tokens before selling them on the market. The security company HashDit warns users not to trade GANA until an official announcement is made.
The GANA team has confirmed the attack and is working with an independent security unit to investigate and implement a recovery plan, including a thorough review of user assets. The incident occurred against the backdrop of BNB Chain experiencing significant security losses in 2024, yet individual attacks continue to emerge.
