Hyperliquid has launched the (portfolio margin) collateral system to improve capital efficiency, currently in pre-alpha stage on the testnet. This upgrade introduces new on-chain trading features, allowing for more flexible and optimized portfolio management.
The highlight of the system is the unification of users’ spot and perpetual (perpetual) trading accounts into a single account. As a result, capital is allocated more efficiently, and assets that can be borrowed but are not in use will automatically generate interest. In the initial phase, users can only borrow USDC with HYPE as collateral.
The unified account mechanism helps reduce liquidation risk and improve risk management. In the future, Hyperliquid plans to expand support to USDH and BTC, as well as deeper integration with lending protocols within the HyperEVM ecosystem. The cryptocurrency community is closely monitoring the impact of this upgrade on liquidity and capital efficiency on the platform.
