A coalition of writers, actors, and technology experts has established the Creators Coalition on AI to promote clear, binding rules regarding the training and use of artificial intelligence in the entertainment industry. This initiative emerges amid escalating disputes related to AI, leading to strikes, lawsuits, and policy conflicts in Hollywood and the digital media sector.
Co-founder Joseph Gordon-Levitt stated that the coalition is not a union but an interdisciplinary effort to develop voluntary standards that shape common practices and policies. The group responds to the rapid deployment of AI by many companies, often without safeguards to protect creators’ rights.
The coalition aims for a broad scope, including artists, YouTubers, podcasters, and independent creators. Over 500 industry figures have signed in support, affirming that creators can exert collective pressure to safeguard their rights amid the wave of AI development.
