On September 26, the documentary “BBC Panorama 2023: Downfall of the Crypto King SBF & FTX” produced by the BBC was officially launched. In the nearly 90-minute feature film, the BBC almost completely showed the rise and fall of SBF and his crypto empire FTX. The film includes SBF’s early perspectives, conversations, and interviews with SBF colleagues and FTX users.
The BBC’s introduction to the film is “SBF is a disheveled, nerdy math genius who originally set out to change the crypto world, but ended up becoming the biggest loser and may face a long prison term in the future. Facing fraud and money laundering charges in New York On the eve of his trial, the show revealed the astonishing rise and collapse of his $40 billion company, FTX, which he boasted would bring crypto to the mainstream but ultimately went bankrupt, wiping out more than a million customers. Drawing on detailed research and interviews with his former colleagues, employees and insiders, the film explores the many overlooked warning signs, including his sleazy image, celebrity hype and pledges to donate billions to charity , how to make the world turn a blind eye to the crimes he is accused of and bring the crypto industry into crisis.”
As of September 28, SBF’s case is still under further review. The U.S. Department of Justice opposes the latest motion to temporarily release SBF.
