Today, we’re excited to announce the launch of Avail’s Clash of Nodes incentivized testnet, an important step in testing Avail and taking a step toward mainnet. We warmly invite validators and light client operators to join this cutting-edge technology space. You’ll be able to join our network, test our infrastructure, light clients, and more, and compete for points on leaderboards.
See how Avail is building the stage for the future of Rollup Hubs with the community, L2, and more.
As the blockchain space has evolved, Rollup technology has ushered in a new era of scalability by moving execution off-chain. However, an urgent challenge remains: Data Availability (DA). Many rollups rely on Ethereum for their DA needs, which is not a cost-effective solution. And, while competing solutions exist, they often introduce unnecessary layers of trust and inefficiencies.
That’s where Avail comes into play. Designed specifically for this task, Avail provides a decentralized, scalable, and efficient DA platform. It’s not just about solving today’s problems, it’s about building a super-scalable base layer that will lay the foundation for tomorrow’s rollup-based applications.
With a focus on data availability and consensus, Avail has built a solid platform for a variety of users. Whether you’re looking to scale the L3 ecosystem, optimize your L2 rollups, and whether you’re considering building a validium, optimium, or sovereign rollup, Avail has you covered.
Now, we need validators to bring it to life. We’re looking for people who want to try something cool, help support the modular blockchain future, and get rewarded in the process.
Ready to be a part of this exciting journey?
Today, we’re excited to announce the official launch of Clash of Nodes, an incentivized testnet where validators, light client operators, and others can help validate our network, earn points, and compete for fun and potential rewards.
We’re gearing up to hit mainnet in the coming months, so Clash of Nodes is your chance to experience how Avail will work once it’s launched.
How does it work?
Clash of Nodes is a life-and-death struggle (not really, of course), where validators, light client operators, and other participants complete challenges on Avail for a chance to earn rewards:
Here are some of the first challenges coming at launch and shortly thereafter:
For light client operators, your challenges will come in the coming weeks, but you can warm up now by running a light client in a matter of seconds.
For the rest of the users, challenges like balance transfer and identity settings can be taken and completed by anyone!
🔗 > Read the full details on the Clash of Nodes challenge page.
You’ll earn points by completing challenges each week, and your score will be displayed on the leaderboard.

And that’s not all, check out our public leaderboard of validators and light client operators to see who contributes the most!

We need validators and light client operators to help build the network!
Validator - Guardian of Avail
We’d like to take a moment to explain Avail’s validators. You play a vital role in driving the blockchain ecosystem forward, and through the Avail network, you will help us scale the data availability (DA) block space around the world.
100 of you have been helping us test the Kate testnet for months, and you’ll have priority to be one of the 300 in this round. **In the long run, we are aiming for 1000 bits! So for those who participate in this testnet, we welcome you guys in advance!
Light Client Operators - Hardening the Network
Light client operators play a special role in Avail. In a world where all Avail validators are offline, Avail is the only data availability network where light clients can maintain operations. Light clients have the power of data availability sling.
Setting up and operating the light client is straightforward. If you’ve ever formatted your laptop, becoming a light client operator is as simple as that. Join the light client operation and be a part of this scalability saga.
Whether you’re building an L3 ecosystem or optimizing our L2s, now is the perfect opportunity to test the Avail base layer and get ready for mainnet, where you can improve scalability on existing chains. Read the full guide to choose the right data availability tier.
We need users and developers to test our network from all angles. Join us, try out our system, access faucets, try to “break the network”, send large amounts of data, and more. Even if you’re not a validator or light client operator, you can see all the challenges you can try.
