A major crypto VC just transferred 276,000 COMP( worth approximately $7.6 million) into a mainstream compliant platform for custody.

This move is quite interesting. This VC is a major investor in Compound, having participated as early as March 2020, when they acquired 1 million COMP, accounting for 10% of the total supply. They are considered a seasoned player in the DeFi ecosystem.

What’s more noteworthy is their current on-chain holdings: 64 million UNI( worth $325 million) and 19.51 million OP( worth $5.71 million). They have long since liquidated their COMP holdings.

From being a long-term investor in Compound to now almost fully liquidating, and considering their heavy positions in UNI and OP, this subtly reflects some nuanced shifts in DeFi narratives — a move from protocol governance tokens toward more liquid and actively used DEXs and Layer2 solutions. The market is voting, and institutional wallets are voting too.
COMP0.57%
UNI-5.52%
OP-1.35%

Oh no, is COMP about to dump? The legendary coin from earlier years has now become a hedging tool… Institutions have all moved on to accumulating UNI and OP, what does that say? The narrative of governance tokens should be cooling down. To put it simply, liquidity is king; the DeFi story is no longer compelling. From millions of COMP to now being emptied out, this shift is quite drastic. Just looking at wallets reveals what the market is doing; the step of compliant custody is also very clever. The halo that Compound once had has indeed gradually faded, and the signs of ecosystem migration are so obvious.

Oh no, big institutions are voting. Has COMP really become just a thing of the past? All in on COMP early on, now completely cleared. That was a decisive move... With UNI and OP stacked like this, how long can the DEX story really go on? It’s a question mark. Wait, 276,000 tokens sent to the exchange. Is this to dump or just for custody cleanup? The details are a bit fuzzy. It's outrageous. The DeFi newcomers of the past are now abandoned, and it’s Layer 2 whales’ turn to take the stage.
