I've been curious about this question for a while. As the number of altcoins continues to increase, there will likely be more cases of tokens with the same name in the future. The exchange's current approach is to delist old tokens with little trading volume, but if the data is not cleared, users may end up buying the wrong ones. While it is possible to determine this by looking at the token contract address, it requires knowledge of web3, which is not friendly for newcomers.
