According to the Brazilian federal government contract website, the Federal Police have obtained temporary access to specialized software for cryptocurrency tracking. The agreement involves the procurement of blockchain-based information and communication technology (ICT) solutions, with specific details officially outlined by the Ministry of Justice and Public Security (MJSP).

Based on the referenced terms, the goal of the contract is to acquire 10 sets of software for locating, tracking, and analyzing cryptocurrency transactions, including practical knowledge transfer, technical support, and 36 months of technical updates.

This tool will assist the Federal Police in investigating criminal cases involving cryptocurrencies, such as money laundering, digital fraud, and other financial crimes. This initiative is seen as an important step in enhancing the Federal Police’s technological capabilities to address the rising trend of cryptocurrency adoption in Brazil.

The same service was also procured by the National Public Security Secretariat, but only one software set was purchased, with a total amount of R$ 170,000, and the contract was signed in October 2025.
