Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin has moed significant amounts of ETH, sparking attention across the crypto community. According to blockchain analytics platform Lookonchain, Buterin sold 493 ETH, worth roughly $1.16 million, over the past eight hours.

Earlier reports indicated a recent sale of 211.84 ETH for 500,000 USDC, which was promptly transferred to the Kanro Fund. This activity highlights Buterin’s ongoing financial maneuvers supporting philanthropic initiatives while maintaining a diverse crypto portfolio.

Besides these large transactions, smaller transfers have also been noted. Arkham data  shows minor inflows of ETH, USDT, and YEE to Buterin’s wallets, with values ranging from $1 to just over $3. On one occasion, 0.000319 ETH, equivalent to $1, was sent to a Gnosis wallet under his control.

Additionally, Buterin engaged in swaps on Bungee Exchange, moving 7,451 USDC and 7,103 USDC in separate transactions. Outflows included 40 trillion DINU tokens, valued at $18,540, and 10,000 KNC tokens worth around $2,470. These transactions show a mix of philanthropic and portfolio-management strategies.

Vitalik’s Portfolio Snapshot

Currently, Buterin’s cryptocurrency portfolio is estimated at $550 million, with ETH making up the bulk. He holds 235,269 ETH, valued at $530.73 million, reflecting a 3.25% decrease. Wrapped ETH (WETH) totals 4,232 tokens, worth $9.55 million, down 3.06%, while AETHWETH holdings of 2,928 tokens are valued at $6.62 million, down 3.2%.

Stablecoins and smaller tokens form the remainder. Notably, GHO stablecoin holds 1.797 million tokens (~$1.8 million), unchanged. WHITE tokens number 10 billion, gaining 0.36% to $890,000. Other holdings include MOODENG, KNC, and REPV2, reflecting slight fluctuations.

Philanthropy Through Kanro

The Kanro Fund emphasized that the $500,000 USDC transfer stems from Buterin’s commitment to biomedical research and public health. Since October 2025, Kanro’s multisig wallet has received over 55 ETH from Buterin.

Kanro Fund stated, “Differently from other news which people make public on him from selling meme-tokens supply, we are designed differently. All our donations to Kanro Multisig goes straight in ETH.” Buterin also publicly highlighted the importance of Covid and pandemic research, focusing on open-source solutions and global health initiatives.
