American lawmakers will meet with 18 leaders in the cryptocurrency industry on Tuesday, including Strategy Chairman Michael Saylor, Fundstrat CEO Tom Lee, and MARA CEO Fred Thiel, to discuss President Donald Trump's Strategic Bitcoin Reserve. The meeting is organized by The Digital Chambers and The Digital Power Network.
The focus is on the BITCOIN Act proposed by Senator Cynthia Lummis, calling for the government to purchase 1 million Bitcoin over 5 years, funded through the Fed and the Department of the Treasury using budget balancing strategies. The proposed solutions include reassessing the Treasury's gold certificates and utilizing revenue from tariffs.
In addition to the leaders of VC funds and banks, many executives from Bitcoin mining companies such as CleanSpark, MARA, and Bitdeer are also participating. This could be the next major step for Congress after passing the GENIUS Act stablecoin bill in July.
