Ethereum core developers announced plans to launch the highly anticipated Fusaka upgrade on the Mainnet on December 3. This major update will significantly enhance network scalability while maintaining Decentralization and security, bringing new technological breakthroughs and application possibilities to the Ethereum ecosystem.
Fusaka Upgrade Timeline Confirmed, Testnet Deployment About to Begin
The tentative date was announced during the latest ACDC #165 developer conference call. According to the published schedule, this upgrade will be implemented in phases:
October 1: Holesky testnet launched
October 14: Sepolia testnet launch
October 28: Hoodi Testnet Launch
December 3: The Mainnet is officially launched.
Kim, a member of the development team, added that the developers will reconfirm the specific date, time, and epoch number in the coming days to ensure a smooth upgrade process. Even more exciting is that the developers expect the Blob capacity to double within two weeks after the upgrade is initiated, which will bring significant performance improvements to the Ethereum network.
Core technological breakthroughs of Fusaka upgrade
Fusaka is the next major hard fork of Ethereum, aimed at fundamentally improving the network's scalability. As one of its main features, Fusaka introduces peer data availability sampling, which allows validators to verify large datasets (referred to as blobs) by sampling small portions from peer nodes instead of downloading the entire dataset.
This upgrade also includes several important technical improvements:
· Increase the block gas limit from 30 million units to 150 million units, supporting more transaction processing.
· Implement Verkle tree, optimize data storage, reduce proof size
· Improve EVM performance to accelerate the execution speed of smart contracts.
These technological improvements will collectively bring higher transaction throughput, lower fees, and a better user experience to the Ethereum network, especially for DeFi applications and the NFT market that rely on high transaction volumes.
Security Audit Competition Launched, Prize Pool Up to 2 Million USD
To ensure the security and stability of the Fusaka upgrade, the Ethereum Foundation initiated a four-week audit competition earlier this week, offering rewards of up to $2 million to security researchers who discover vulnerabilities before the hard fork enters the Mainnet.
This large-scale security audit activity reflects the Ethereum development team's high regard for network security and provides the community with opportunities to participate in network development.
Ethereum Development Roadmap Outlook
After the Fusaka upgrade, Ethereum's next major upgrade is expected to be Glamsterdam in 2026, which may focus on further enhancing scalability, such as the complete EVM object format (EOF) and faster block times.
This series of upgrade plans demonstrates Ethereum's determination for continuous development and its ambition to maintain a leading position in the blockchain technology field.
Market Impact and Investment Opportunities
The upgrade timetable for Fusaka has brought a clear development direction to the Ethereum ecosystem, which could have a positive impact on the price of ETH and related projects. As the upgrade date approaches, the market may see more attention and investment opportunities.
