The Brazilian Ministry of Culture approved a music project that transforms Bitcoin price data into musical notes through an algorithm, to be performed live by an orchestra, allowing the audience to experience the auditory sensation of market fluctuations.

Let the audience experience the excitement of trading coins, as the Brazilian band will perform Bitcoin music.

According to local media “Livecoins”, the Brazilian Ministry of Culture has recently approved an experimental orchestral fundraising project that aims to transform Bitcoin price data into live music performances.

The authorization information from the Brazilian Federal Gazette shows that the project has been approved to raise up to 1.09 million reais (approximately 197,000 US dollars) from private companies and individual donors through local cultural incentive laws. The related fundraising activities must be completed by December 31, and sponsors can enjoy tax deductions.

The concert is expected to be held in Brasília, the capital of Brazil, and will combine the behavior of financial markets with the traditional sounds of classical instruments, allowing the audience to hear the volatility of Bitcoin, transforming the ups and downs of the market into a concrete auditory experience through data-driven composition.

However, the official has not disclosed whether this event will use cryptocurrency or blockchain infrastructure.

How does the fluctuation of Bitcoin turn into musical notes?

The official revealed that the specific implementation method of turning Bitcoin's price trend into melodies is through a set of algorithms that monitor Bitcoin price trends and related technical data in real time, converting these currency numbers into musical notation. This data input will directly guide the melody, rhythm, and harmony arrangement of the live orchestra.

From visual to auditory, algorithmic encryption art has developed over the years.

In fact, the combination of Algorithm + cryptocurrency is not a new art. According to a report by Cointelegraph, in 2020, an art group in San Francisco launched a work titled “Right Place & Right Time” created by artist Matt Kane, which uses Bitcoin market data as real-time input, allowing the visual presentation of the work to change with the fluctuation of the coin price.

The work is released through the NFT platform Async Art and is also listed on OpenSea. Its feature is that its layers adjust their proportions, rotation, and positions based on price behavior.

Another artist, Refik Anadol, has also been using AI and big data for creation for a long time. For example, in July 2023, he collaborated with the Yawanawá indigenous community in the Brazilian Amazon to launch the NFT series “Winds of Yawanawá,” which combines real-time environmental data with traditional art, transforming data from the natural world into a generative digital art series.

It evokes the fascinating Japanese girl group “Virtual Currency Girls”.

In addition to the serious art of algorithms, this attempt to combine cryptocurrency with performing arts may also remind seasoned individuals in the coin circle of a special Japanese idol group, Cryptocurrency Girls, from 2018.

The virtual currency girl group has eight members, each representing Bitcoin, Ethereum, Ripple ($XRP), and other cryptocurrencies. Not only do they use cryptocurrencies as member salaries, but their song lyrics also heavily incorporate themes of cryptocurrency and NFTs.

Although it differs from the form of algorithmic art, it similarly reflects the cryptocurrency culture's attempt to cross over and enter the realm of mainstream entertainment.
